The Heart Behind Galvan Racing Stable
Born October 31, 1979, in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico, Baltazar Galvan learned to ride before he could walk — taught by his grandfather, who passed down a gift that would carry him across borders and into the winner's circle.
Silao, in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, is where Baltazar's story begins. It was there, on family land and in the company of working horses, that his grandfather first lifted him into the saddle. The lessons were never formal — they were lived. How to read an ear flick. How to feel tension in a shoulder. How to sit still enough that the horse forgets you are there.
By the time he was a teenager, Baltazar had already developed the quiet, instinctive feel that would later define his training. "It's not easy to explain," he once said, "but any good exercise rider or jockey will tell you there's a connection between horse and rider, a bond where rider and horse can sense each other's vibes and work as one."

At 18 years old, Baltazar came to the United States with little more than the ability to ride and the courage to compete. He found his footing in Georgia's bush tracks — raw, grassroots proving grounds where a young jockey either learns fast or does not last long. With Isabella Galvan beside him, he kept showing up before dawn, taking mounts others passed on, and building a name one race at a time.
It was in Georgia that the Galvan family began. Isabella's steady support allowed Baltazar to chase a dream that rarely promises stability. Together they laid the foundation for what would eventually become Galvan Racing Stable.
